WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE CLUB?
To give young creators ideas, and to accentuate their imagination for more diverse works.

 

CLUB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the Comic Book Club is to bring together those that enjoy reading comic books, graphic novels, manga, and other forms of visual media so that they can discuss, view, and celebrate the medium. As well as, explore new ideas, and create new comics.

 

THE GOALS OF THE CLUB
1 To help improve story writing capability.
2 To help improve artistic skills, and thinking
3 A fun and safe environment where nerds can be themselves.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA & WEBSITE: 

How can this club support the school website and the school`s social media accounts?

This club can promote the creativity of students in CMIT.

 

How can this club support school activities such as;

Spirit Week, BHM, Open House, CMIT club expo, etc?

 

For spirit week, the students within the Comic Club may work on a small comic strip, and show off the uniqueness of CMIT. For black history month the students within the club may work on presentations about illustrators, and comic writers to show off the creativity of the colored community.

 

CLUB RULES/EXPECTATIONS

List below the club norms and rules each member will follow: 

  1. Be respectful
  2. No derogatory terms.
  3. Do not steal ideas, however inspiration is allowed.
  4. Be mindful in discussions, any input, is good input.
  5. Share the mic, we may implement raising your hand in order to speak, this is to avoid people being talked over.
  6. Be friends.

OCT 5-9 We will look at Stan Lee, his comics and his overall influence on comics.
OCT 12-16 Draw a marvel-inspired comic strip.
OCT 19-23 Funny character design minigames.
OCT 26-30 Hollaween themed drawing.
NOV 2-6 Day of the Dead comic panel.
NOV 9-13 We will look at Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, and his creation of the D.C. Universe.
NOV 16-20 We will recreate a D.C. comic featuring any character. 
NOV 23-27 Discussion: What is imagination?
NOV 30-DEC 4 Drawing Mashup games
DEC 7-11 Looking at online webtoons, and drawing inspiration from their work.
DEC 14-18 COMIC DEBATE DAY
DEC 21-25 Christmas themed drawing comic strip.
JAN 4-8 We will explore youtube influencers art via Zoom Screen Share..
JAN 11-15 Introduction to Manga.
JAN 18-22 Discussion about japanese art, and popular influences – (will be followed with a poll to pick options for future discussions, and topics to do.)
JAN 25-29 COMIC DEBATE DAY
FEB 1-5 Looking at famous artist’s within black history and admiring their work.
FEB 8-12 Drawing an important figure in black history, and what they are known for.
FEB 15-19 COMIC DEBATE DAY
FEB 22-26 Discussion about japanese art, and popular influences – (will be followed with a poll to pick options for future discussions, and topics to do.)
MAR 1-5 (Will be an outcome of the poll)
MAR 8-12 (Will be an outcome of the poll)

MAR 22-26 Discussion: How to build your own art style. 
APR 6-9 Easter themed art project
APR 12-16 Drawing a character in the one piece art style.
APR 19-23 Everyone will work on custom character ideas and designs, which will be critiqued by members of the club. 
APR 26-30 Club comic strip (everyone in the club will work on one big comment together and will be able to implement ideas.)(This is throughout the year)
MAY 3-7 Cinco de Mayo (Mexican art panel)
MAY 10-14 Draw yourself as a superhero!
MAY 17-21 Discuss comic books that were adapted into movies/shows
MAY 24-28   Watch comics that were adapted to shows/movies and review them as a group.
