Uniform Policy

Uniform Policy School Year 2022 – 2023

CMIT students are required to wear uniforms unless told otherwise by staff who have administrative permission to make such decisions. 

We will follow the guidelines as set by PGCPS in regards to wearing face masks.  

*CMIT reserves the right to change this policy at any time.*

**Ninth grade students are NOT permitted to wear spirit wear except on dress down days.**

Standard Uniform
Shirt

  • Must have CMIT Logo
  • Solid purple or solid gold polo
  • Spirit wear tops with CMIT Logo pre-approved by the administration and purchased by a pre-approved vendor are permitted daily for grades 10 – 12.
  • No hoods are allowed on any garment.

Pants/Skirts/Shorts

  • Solid khaki or solid navy
  • Shorts and skirts must be to the knee length or longer.
  • Pants/shorts/skirts must be kept at the waist.
  • No cargo pants, jeans, yoga pants, leggings, sweatpants, rips, or embellishments

Shoes

  • Any color
  • No slippers, slides, flip flops, or Crocs

Outerwear

  • Any outerwear worn without the CMIT logo must be placed in the student’s locker once they enter the school building.
  • Jackets, sweatshirts, pullovers, windbreakers, and other similar items worn in the school building must have a CMIT logo and be pre-approved by the administration and purchased by a pre-approved vendor.
  • No hoods are allowed.
  • Blankets are not permitted.

Accessories:

  • No hats, bandanas, do-rags, skull caps, sweatbands, or bonnets.
  • Headscarves for cultural or religious purposes are permitted and must be solid black, white, gray, purple, or gold.
PE / Gym Uniform
  • PE uniform is only for students who are currently enrolled in Personal Fitness.
  • PE uniform is only worn during the student’s Personal Fitness class period.  Students cannot wear the PE uniform to other classes.
  • Students are welcome to change out of their traditional school uniform into their PE uniform in the gym restroom. Still, they must be mindful of time due to class activities starting at the beginning of the period.  Students who change will have time at the end of the class period to change into their traditional school uniform. 
  • Shirt:
    • Must be solid purple or solid gold
  • Pants:
    • Solid black sweatpants or black shorts 
      • Leggings can be worn under shorts (not by themselves)
  • Shoes:
    • Must be sneakers with laces
  • Accessories:
    • Any accessory that could cause an injury during physical activity must be removed during PE class.
    • Earrings larger than a stud must be removed during PE class. 
    • The school is not responsible for holding or storing these accessories.
Formal / Field Trip Uniform / Picture Day
  • Formal school uniforms will be worn during field trips and picture day.
  • White oxford shirt with CMIT Purple and Gold Logo
  • Solid purple tie
  • Solid navy blue or khaki pants (No cargo pants, jeans, yoga pants, leggings, sweatpants, rips, or embellishments)
  • Shoes of any color (No slippers, slides, flip flops, or Crocs)
Dress Down Days
  • Attire must correspond with PGCPS dress code
  • Students are still prohibited from wearing hats, bandanas, do-rags, skull caps, sweatbands, bonnets or hoods.
  • Headscarves for cultural or religious purposes are permitted and must be solid black, white, gray, purple, or gold.
  • No slippers, flip flops, slides, or Crocs
  • No pajamas
Violations
  1. Major Violations: (i.e. non-uniform tops, bottoms, or shoes)
    1. Parent or guardian contact + students will be removed from class and asked to correct their uniform. Students who cannot correct their uniform may remain in the intervention room.
  2. Minor violations (i.e. sagging pants, things that can be corrected)
    1. Parent or guardian contact, warnings, lunch detentions. 

Repeat violations will be addressed by the PGCPS Student Code of Conduct and will result in loss of privileges.
